Bellator 97: Chandler Annihilates Rickels

Michael Chandler

Bellator MMA’s best pound-for-pound fighter headlined tonight’s Bellator 97 fight card as Bellator lighweight champion Michael Chandler took on Season 8 tournament champion David Rickels. Chandler wasted little time in tonight’s fight by securing a 44-second knockout of “The Caveman” in Spike TV card’s main event.

Chandler Steamrolls Rickels

Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler decided to one-up his MIZZOU wrestling teammate, and Bellator welterweight champion, Ben Askren by not only getting his own twelfth career victory but by doing in style. Chandler waited out Rickels for a short period to measure up his opponent and then unloaded on him with pinpoint striking. Chandler set it all up with a left jab and then a straight right that crumpled Rickels. Chandler quickly swarmed and beat “The Caveman” back to the Stone Age.

Chandler now awaits the return of original opponent Dave Jansen. The talented fighter is likely to make his next appearance on the upcoming Bellator MMA PPV debut this November.
