UFC 166 Adds Payan vs. Oliveira

Estevan Payan

The UFC has added a featherweight clash to UFC 166 as the always scrappy Charles Oliveira takes on Estevan Payan. The bouts place in the lineup has yet to be announced as of this pace. The Houston Chronicle first reported the pairing on Thursday.

Both fighters head into the fall bout coming off losses in their last outings. “Do Bronx” dropped a hard-fought featherweight bout at UFC 162 to perennial contender Frankie Edgar. Payan saw his eight-fight unbeaten streak snapped by dropping a bloody decision to Jeremy Stephens. The two fighters could be fighting for their jobs when they face off in Houston.

UFC 166 is headlined by the third fight between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. A bout between Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson will co-headline the billing. The fight card will take place October 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
