The Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championship has reportedly announced that Dong Hyun Kim will attend the renowned competition this October, which means three UFC fighters will participate in the event. If your new to this whole MMA thing, and are just getting up to speed on all this ground work stuff, the ADCC is one the world’s most famous and biggest grappling competitions.
According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, Kim will compete alongside the UFC’s Rousimar Palhares and Vinny Magalhaes at the event, which will take place in Beijing, China, on October 19th and 20th. The 31 year-old welterweight is a 4th Dan, black belt in Judo, and if you’ve watched any of his UFC performances, then you know the “Stun Gun” is ridiculously good on the ground.
The South Korean fighter hasn’t fought since March, when he worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC on FUEL TV8. Recently, Erik Silva’s coach Josuel Distak reported that Kim is set to fight the welterweight October 9th at a UFC Fight Night event.
Fabricio Werdum was expected to compete, but a report from the ADCombat.com site last week relayed that the UFC heavyweight is out due to “professional commitments”. Former UFC competitors Jon Olav Eneimo and Dean Lister are also scheduled to compete.
In addition to the usual division competitions, this year’s ADCC will feature Braulio Estima taking on Andre Galvao, and Fabio Gurgel versus Zé Mario Sperry in super fight action.
