UFC Fight Night 26 reportedly drew an attendance of 12,539 for a live gate of $1.53 million in Boston, Massachusetts. UFC president Dana White reported the preliminary numbers at last night’s UFC Fight Night 26 post-fight press conference.
Last night’s fight card, which helped launch FOX Sports 1, saw former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen submit Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the main event. Co-main fighters Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem also left a lasting impression as Browne had to come from behind to defeat Overeem in explosive fashion.
While last night’s card did not top the UFC’s last trip to Boston for UFC 118, which drew 14,168 fans for a $2.8 million live gate, that event was headlined by a then-anticipated rematch between B.J. Penn and then-champion Frankie Edgar and was also accompanied by a large UFC Fan Expo the week prior.
The Massachusetts State Athletic Commission (MSAC), which oversaw last night’s event, is expected to release the official numbers later in the upcoming week.
