Tate: Rousey was “Horrible” to Deal With

Of course, before nearly every season of “The Ultimate Fighter” starts, fans are besieged with the ”craziest season ever’ narrative, which typically includes just how much the coaches hate one another. While of course, one could argue the forces behind TUF 18 are exaggerating things just a wee bit again, it certainly does look like Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey have changed their minds about one another.

If you watched Tate’s Google Hangout yesterday, which was put on by FOX Sports 1 to promote TUF 18, then you know the Strikeforce vet didn’t have many kind things to say about Rousey. She did credit the bantamweight champ for promoting women’s MMA and for being a top tier athlete, but that was about it for compliments. If you missed it, here is some of what Tate had to say about her fellow TUF 18 coach (transcription via MMA

“I’ve had people I’ve worked with before that I didn’t get along with or whatever, but never to this extent. I don’t know what her reasoning was for it, but at one point she just flipped a switch and she just became this mega b—h,” Tate said. “For the rest of the season, it was just horrible having to deal with her.”

“She puts on this tough girl act. She flips me off, she cusses me out, she does all these things I really think deep down inside because she respects me a lot. She is realizing the first time [we fought] that she was able to get away with that and it bothered me and she was able to emotionally manipulate me. This time it’s not. I think she’s even more aggravated about it and that’s why she’s really escalated,”

“There’s no way I could possibly like her,” Tate claimed. “She’s been incredibly rude to me from the very beginning. That’s how our rivalry got started. It’s not going to change with her attitude. She was very disrespectful on the show. I think that’s what she’s more worried because honestly, her true colors came out in that six weeks.”

TUF 18 gets underway on September 4th, and Rousey-Tate II will take place December 28th at UFC 168. Stay tuned to MMA for all your UFC news and coverage.
