World Series of Fighting is heading north this December for WSOF 7 as the promotion heads to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The December 7 fight card will be headlined by a light heavyweight battle between Anthony Johnson and Mike Kyle. WSOF officials announced the card on Wednesday.
The move north was comes on the heels of WSOF’s purchase of Aggression Fighting Championship and their partnership with IMG Media to form WSOF Canada. The fight card will take place at Vancouver’s PNE Agrodome.
“The launch of World Series of Fighting Canada is an incredibly exciting announcement for our promotion,” World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo said. “From the beginning, we have maintained our desire to bring our elite-level mixed martial arts action to Canada and the great MMA fans that live there, as well as markets around the globe. We embrace this new division of our company that will allow us to make great strides into Canada, which has long proven to have one of the most passionate and knowledgeable MMA fan bases in the world.”
Anthony Johnson and Mike Kyle were originally expected to face off in the main event before Johnson was forced off the card due to injury. Kyle would stay on the card however, dropping a hard-fought decision to Andrei Arlovski.
Joining Johnson and Kyle on the fight card will be a bout between Elvis Mutapcic and Jesse Taylor. Mutapcic and Taylor were originally set to face off at WSOF 5 this past September before the bout was called off only moments before the fight when NJACB officials spotted unauthorized drugs in his corner. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
