The heavyweights took center stage tonight at Bellator 102 in Visalia, California. In tonight’s main event, UFC veteran Cheick Kongo would punch his ticket to the final with a strong victory over Mark Godbeer. Vinicius Queiroz would also make a statement in tonight’s co-main event, as he defeated Lavar Johnson.
Kongo Crushes Godbeer
UFC veteran Cheick Kongo started slowly in his first fight outside the Octagon against Mark Godbeer. Kongo controlled the fight in the first with solid wrestling and clinch work. The old Kongo took to the stage in the second, as he crushed Godbeer with a brutal barrage of knees that brought a halt to the fight. The victory puts Kongo in the final opposite Vinicius Queiroz.
“Spartan” Flattens Johnson
Vinicius Queiroz gave fellow UFC veteran Lavar Johnson a rude welcome to the Bellator MMA cage tonight in California. “Spartan” would score a wicked flash knockout of Johnson that sent the Californian to the canvas in awkward fashion. The victory brings Queiroz a step closer to gaining a rematch with Bellator MMA champion Alexander Volkov.
