The UFC awarded bonuses to only three men on Wednesday as Raphael Assunção, T.J. Dillashaw, and Dong Hyun Kim all earned $50,000 each for their efforts in Barueri, São Paulo, Brazil. While the lone submission on the card was a slick heel hook by Rousimar Palhares, Palhares was not awarded “Submission of the Night” due to what the promotion deemed unsportsman-like conduct. The promotion announced the bonuses at the UFC Fight Night 29 post-fight press conference.
Dillashaw and Assunção Take Home $50K Each
Tonight’s fight of the night was awarded to the UFC Fight Night 29 main card opener between Raphael Assunção and T.J. Dillashaw. The two top ten bantamweights battled it out in a three round war that saw Assunção take home a split decision victory. The bonus was both fighters’ first in the UFC.
Kim Scores “Knockout of the Night”
UFC welterweight contender Dong Hyun Kim took home $50,000 for “KO of the Night” for his first finish since his UFC debut at UFC 84. Despite being highly inaccurate for the majority of the fight, Kim caught Erick Silva overexposed for a brilliant knockout victory. The bonus was his first with the promotion.
