The rumored lineup for UFC 99 on June 13th in Cologne, Germany has grown substantially over the last 24-hours, with Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy, Cain Velasquez, and Mike Swick being added to the event’s tentative fight card.
Davis confirmed the potential matchup with Hardy in a recent post on the Underground Forums.
“All I will say is I told Joe Silva to make this happen for June 13th in Germany- neutral ground for both of us. So it is in Joe Silva’s control. This whole “calling me out” thing started at the Q&A in London when his manager sent up a guy to ask me if I would fight Dan and I said lets do it,” wrote Davis. “I think he is a talented fighter but I also think I will pound his face into dust.”
Meanwhile, MMA Junkie is reporting that undefeated heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez and welterweight contender Mike Swick are likely to return to action at the event against yet-to-be-named opponents.
UFC 99 was expected to be headlined by BJ Penn’s lightweight title defense against Kenny Florian, but that fight is now not expected to take place until July or August after Penn requested additional time off following his UFC 94 defeat to Georges St-Pierre. A catchweight bout between Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva is likely to co-headline the card.
