Boetsch Edges Dollaway

It was not pretty, but Tim Boetsch snapped a two-fight losing streak by defeating late replacement CB Dollaway in tonight’s FS1 feature prelim. While Dollaway would lose a point due to two accidental eye-pokes, it did not matter in the end as two judges, somewhat surprisingly, gave every round of the fight to Boetsch anyways. The victory likely saved Boetsch’s job and snapped a two fight win-streak for Dollaway.

Lombard Mauls Marquardt

Hector Lombard was looking to make a statement in his welterweight debut against Nate Marquardt tonight in Houston and it is safe to say he did. Lombard rocked Marquardt early in the first and then swarmed with a vicious barrage that separated Marquardt from consciousness. The loss likely spells the end of Marqardt’s UFC career, while Lombard

Eye Upsets Kaufman

Former Bellator flyweight standout Jessica Eye made her UFC debut at bantamweight tonight and she did not disappoint against one of the better WMMA fighters in the world. Despite dropping the most decisive round of the bout in the third, Eye did enough in the first two rounds to way two out of the three judges in attendance. Eye has now won seven straight fights while Kaufman has dropped two of her last three fights.

Noons Edges Sotiropoulos

K.J. Noons likely saved his UFC career by ending the UFC run of George Sotiropoulos in tonight’s FOX Sports 1 opener. The bout likely hinged on a pair of exchanges in the first and third rounds that saw Noons land the two biggest strikes of the fight. While both fighters did not look bad tonight, Sotiropoulos will likely be cut after tonight and Noons will still be on notice in his next fight after both came in having lost three straight.
