UFC 166: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos III rolls along to the heavyweight division for a bout between Gabriel Gonzaga and former LSU fullback Shawn Jordan. The Brazilian picked up a big victory tonight in Houston with a rousing KO.
Gonzaga Flattens Jordan
Gabriel Gonzaga kept his recent run going tonight with a brutal KO of Shawn Jordan. Gonzaga scored the knockout with some beautiful counter boxing as he blocked a Jordan combo before landing a power counter attack that floored the former LSU fullback. Gonzaga is now 3-1 in his second stint in the Octagon, with the lone loss coming from his somewhat controversial knockout loss at the hands of Travis Browne earlier this year. The loss snaps a two-fight streak for Jordan.
Rd. 1-Jay Stafin is tonight’s referee. Jordan seizes the center of the cage and stalks forward. Nice right by GG. Jordan is using feints to test the defense of GG early. Combo by Jordan. Gonzaga catches Jordan coming in with a combo and GG’s counters connect flush. It is all over after some follow-up strikes. Wow.
