MMAFrenzy’s live fight coverage of UFC Fight Night 30 concludes with our recap of tonight’s main event pitting Mark Muñoz against Lyoto Machida. The bout would see the Brazilian prove victorious in an explosive fight.
Machida Blasts Muñoz
Lyoto Machida was looking for new life at middleweight when he faced his Mark Muñoz tonight in Manchester, England and is safe to say he found it. After both fighters felt each other out early, Machida began to test the defenses of Muñoz with kicks before unloading with a massive head kick that was even partially blocked by the former Oklahoma State wrestler.
The victory for Machida was clearly a bit bittersweet however, as he immediately showed concern for his downed friend. Machida has now won three of his last four fights after his successful middleweight debut and will almost certainly be a top ten threat in the division. Muñoz drops to 1-2 in his last three after tonight’s loss.
Rd. 1- Machida looks extremely fit at 185. Both fighters are taking time to figure each other out with Machida in the Southpaw stance and Muñoz in the orthodox stance. Body kick by Machida as he looked high. Machida has seized the center of the cage. Wicked body kick by Machida. Legkick by Machida. Holy shit head kick THROUGH the check by Muñoz and he is out. Machida doesn’t follow-up out of respect and immediately shows concern for his training partner. Wow what a debut.
