The real elite mixed martial arts fighters in the world will be on display on Spike TV Saturday, July 26 (9:00pm-11:30 ET/PT) as the network presents a special presentation of “UFC 84: Penn vs Sherk.”
“UFC 84: Penn Vs Sherk,” which took place Saturday, May 24, features some of the greatest mixed martial arts talent ever assembled under one roof. During the event, BJ Penn successfully defended his lightweight crown against Sean Sherk, winning via TKO after delivering a thunderous flying knee. In light heavyweight action, Lyoto Machida exhibited his technical mastery in winning a unanimous decision against the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz, and Wanderlei Silva delivered one of the most crushing knockouts in UFC history while defeating Keith Jardine less than a minute into their hotly anticipated matchup.
The card also featured Thiago Silva stretching his undefeated record to 4-0 since arriving in the UFC as he submitted Antonio Mendes via strikes. In addition, Goran Reljic made a huge splash in his UFC debut with a TKO of Wilson Gouveia in the first round.
Te Nevada State Athletic Commission today released the official medical suspensions from UFC 84 “Ill Will”. The pay-per-view event took place on May 24th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ten of the event’s twenty-two fighters received a medical suspension.
- Sean Sherk (defeated by BJ Penn via TKO) - Right cheek laceration; Suspended until July 9th with no contact until June 24th.
- Keith Jardine (defeated by Wanderlei Silva via KO) - Nasal fracture; Must have fracture cleared by doctor or no contest until November 21st. Minimum suspension until July 24th with no contact until July 9th.
- Goran Reljic (defeated Wilson Gouveia via TKO) - Suspended until June 24th with no contact until June 15th
- Wilson Gouveia (defeated by Goran Reljic via TKO) - Nasal fractures, sinus fractures, broken ribs; Must have injuries cleared by doctor or no contest until November 21st. Minimum suspension until July 24th with no contact until July 9th.
- Tito Ortiz (defeatd by Lyoto Machida via unanimous decision) - Left hand/wrist injury and right eyelid laceration; Must have injuries cleared by doctor or no contest until November 21st. Minimum supension until July 9th with no contact until June 24th.
- Antonio Mendes (defeated by Thiago Silva via submission - strikes) - Suspended until June 24th with no contact until June 15th.
- Kazuhiro Nakamura (defeated by Rameau Sokoudjou via TKO) - Nasal fracture; Must have fracture cleared by doctor or no contest until November November 21st. Minimum supension until July 9th with no contact until June 24th.
- Terry Etim (defeated by Rich Clementi via unanimous decision) - Right cheek laceration; Suspended until June 24th with no contact until June 15th.
- Jason Tan (defeated by Cong Hyun Kim via TKO) - Nasal fracture; Must have fracture cleared by doctor or no contest until November 21st. Minimum suspension until July 9th with no contact until June 24th.
- Christian Wellisch (defeated by Shane Carwin via TKO) -Â Suspended until June 8th with no contact until June 1st..

The 11-bout pay-per-event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 24th.
The tested fighters were BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, Keith Jardine, Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz, Lyoto Machida, Rousimar Palhares, Ivan Salaverry, Rameau Sokodjou, Rich Clementi, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Shane Carwin, Thiago Silva, Goran Reljic, and Dong Hyun Kim.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the official fighter salaries for UFC 84 “Ill Will”. The 11-bout pay-per-event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 24th.
Each of the event’s winning fighters, excluding Wanderlei Silva, received a win bonus equal to their “to show” salary. Silva did not have a win bonus and instead received a flat salary.
The top paid fighters for the event were UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn ($250,000), Tito Ortiz ($210,000), Silva ($150,000), Lyoto Machida ($100,000), and Rameau Sokoudjou ($80,000).

Weigh-ins for UFC 84 “Ill Will” took place today at the MGM Marquee Ballroom in Las Vegas, Nevada. The nearby MGM Grand Garden Arena will host tomorrow’s UFC pay-per-view event.
All 22-fighters from tomorrow’s UFC 84 fight card hit the scales and weighed-in successfully for their bouts.
The event was not without its headlines as former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz took to the UFC weigh-in stage for what is expected to be the final time of his career wearing a “DANA IS MY BITCH!” t-shirt as part of his going-away attire. Ortiz, locked in a long-running feud with UFC President Dana White, who was noticeably absent from the event, is expected to seek employment outside of the octagon for the first time since 1999. Rameau Sokoudjou and Keita Nakamura and Thiago Silva and Antonio Mendes engaged in intense staredowns after they hit the scales while Goran Reljic made his presence known in advance of his UFC debut, lightly headbutting UFC 84 opponent Wilson Gouveia before exiting the stage.
