- Former UFC lightweight champion and current WEC featherweight Jens Pulver, who is coming off of a loss to WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber, will likely return to the cage in October, possibly against Alexandre Franca Nogueira.
- The UFC is planning to hold an event in Chicago in October and in Boston in November and will also likely hold an event in Oklahoma City in the next six to eight months.
- Tennessee has passed legislation that will sanction mixed martial arts in the state.
- Filming for The Ultimate Fighter 8 concluded last week and three fighters from the upcoming season have now been confirmed. Five Ounces of Pain is reporting that lightweight Shane Nelson and light heavyweight Vinicius Magalhaes will appear on the upcoming season and Joe Duarte has announced that he will be appearing on the show.
- Welterweight challenger Jon Fitch, who takes on title-holder Georges St. Pierre next month at UFC 87, was recently awarded his jiu-jitsu black belt.

Forrest Griffin, Quinton Jackson, Melvin Guillard, and Cole Miller were each awarded $60,000 bonuses by the UFC for their efforts at UFC 86.
Griffin and Jackson were each awarded $60,000 “Fight of the Night” bonuses for their thrilling, five-round main event bout. Griffin overcame Jackson’s power punches with leg kicks and submission attempts to claim the 205-pound title with a unanimous decision victory.
After posting a unanimous decision victory outside of the UFC following back-to-back losses, lightweight Melvin Guillard returned to the octagon in impressive fashion on Saturday, winning the “Knockout of the Night” bonus for his 36-second TKO win over Dennis Siver.
Cole Miller, a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 5, took home “Submission of the Night” honors for his late third-round triangle choke submission of jiu-jitsu black belt Jorge Gurgel.
UFC 86 “Jackson vs. Griffin” took place on Saturday, July 5th, in front of a sold out crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The official scoring of last night’s main event between Forrest Griffin and Quinton Jackson has been released by Dave Meltzer at F4WOnline.com:
Adalaide Byrd who scored it 48-46, gave 4 and 5 to Jackson and Griffin 1, 2 and 3 with 2 as 10-8
Nelson Hamilton had it 48-46 with 1 and 4 for Jackson, and Griffin gettingĀ 2 10-8
Roy Silbert had it 49-46 with only round 4 for Jackson.
