Alvarez is a Bellator Season 1 Lightweight Tournament Winner and a 2 time Bellator Lightweight Champion. He has 14 knockouts, 7 submissions and 4 decisions. Prior to losing to Chandler in their first fight back in 2011, he was on a seven fight winning streak. After the first fight with Chandler, he beat Shinya Aoki and then Patrick Freire to go on to face Chandler for a second time. He beat Chandler in November of 2013 via Split decision.
