While UFC on FOX 13 will feature several, compelling heavyweight bouts, the December 13th card has received a pivotal fight at the other end of the scale.

The UFC has announced that #5 ranked flyweight John Moraga will take on the #4 positioned Jussier “Formiga” at the event, which will go down at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. That’s a pretty solid addition no?

Moraga (15-3) has remained a top contender, following his submission loss to champion Demetrious Johnson last July, by recording wins over Dustin Ortiz and most recently Justin Scoggins. The accomplished wrestler has also incurred a defeat since his title shot, however, as he was TKO’d (due to doctor stoppage) by the #1 contender John Dodson in June.

“Formiga” (17-3) has rebounded nicely from his TKO defeat to Joseph Benavidez last September, by submitting Scott Jorgensen and earning a decision win over Zach Makovsky. Prior to facing Benavidez, the renowned grappler earned a UD win over Chris Cariaso, who will challenge Johnson this Saturday at UFC 178.

UFC on FOX 13 will feature a heavyweight bout between Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic, as well as Alistair Overeem vs. Stefan Struve and Matt Mitrione vs. Gabriel Gonzaga. So if you like to watch the big men throw down, as most folks do, this is card’s for you.
