Fans who have limited their MMA consumption to just the UFC will finally watch Eddie Alvarez throw down this Saturday, and depending on how his scrap with Donald Cerrone goes, they’ll get to see why the lightweight is so highly touted.

Case in point, not too many fighters sign with the UFC and are voted into the promotion’s top 15 ranks, without having fought in the Octagon. Mr. Alvarez is currently ranked #14, and even UFC bossman Dana White was surprised to find out the veteran wasn’t ranked higher. This is what happens when you put together a 25-3 record, defeat several established vets and win Bellator’s lightweight title.

Alvarez is featured prominently in the second episode of UFC 178’s “Embedded” series, and it even shows the Pennsylvania fighter choking out the famous Rocky statue in Philly…yes, that’s right.

The episode (posted below) also includes a lot of footage with Cerrone, while he does some wakeboarding, skeet shooting and of course, some pad work.

UFC 178 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena and the main card will also include Demetrious Johnson-Chris Cariaso, Dustin Poirier-Conor McGregor, Yoel Romero-Tim Kennedy and Takeya Mizugaki-Dominick Cruz.
