Not only did Rory MacDonald score a pivotal, stoppage win over Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night 54, but the welterweight contender earned a “Performance of the Night” as well.

MacDonald floored Saffiedine with a thumping left hand in round three of the card’s main event, and received an extra $50,000 for his efforts.

With the win, MacDonald has won three straight fights and will continue to lock down the promotion’s #2 ranking spot.

One would think he’ll be tapped to face the winner of Johny Hendricks-Robbie Lawler, which will go down on December 6th, but stranger things have happened.

Saffiedine had his five fight winning streak snapped with the loss.

The other “POTN” went to welterweight Olivier Aubin-Mercier, for his sick, inverted triangle-choke finish of Jake Lindsey. “OAM” improved his record to 5-1 with the win.

“Fight of the Night”, and $50K each, went to flyweights Chris Kelades and Patrick Holohan for their entertaining war. Kelades went on to win the bout via unanimous decision.

UFC FN 54 went down at the Halifax Forum in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
