It’s been a tough day for the UFC, and in particular, it’s bantamweight division, as Raphael Assuncao is also reporting that he’s gone down with an injury.
Recently news surfaced that former champ Dominick Cruz has incurred another ACL injury, and Assuncao has relayed he broke his ankle in training.
I am devastated 2 inform that my title shot hopes will be even further delayed due 2 broken ankle suffered in training I am sorry once again

So, as it looks now, the UFC will be without it’s #2 ranked 135’er in Cruz and the #4 positioned Assuncao for the next few months at least.
The latter was certainly on the title shot waiting list, thanks to a seven fight winning streak, which includes a split decision win over champion TJ Dillashaw. Most recently in October, Assuncao worked his way to a unanimous decision victory over Bryan Caraway.
Cruz was expected to fight Dillashaw next, and Assuncao was certainly in the mix, but clearly he’s going to be out for a little while.
Perhaps Renan Barao has just moved to the front of the line?
