If you thought a scrap between Rory MacDonald and Hector Lombard sounded pretty, pretty good, when the latter expressed some interest in it recently, well, things are looking up.

According to reports, a scrap between MacDonald and Lombard is in the works for UFC 186, which will go down on April 25th in Montreal, Quebec.

Vendetta Fighter.com is reporting that the welterweight contenders have verbally agreed to fight at the upcoming event. Lombard has also told MMA Fighting.com that the fight is planned for UFC 186, but the promotion says the bout hasn’t been finalized yet.

So, it looks like Montreal fans will be treated to a pivotal, welterweight bout at UFC 186. MacDonald (18-2) scored a memorable, stoppage win over Tarec Saffiedine in October, and is currently ranked #2. Following the win over Saffiedine, MacDonald was told he’d be challenging for the title next, but the promotion has decided to move forward with Robbie Lawler-Johny Hendricks III.

Lombard (34-4-1), on the other hand, is coming off a decision win over Josh Burkman earlier this month and is sitting in the #5 ranking.

One would think that the winner of this fight will lock up a title shot, but, ya never know.
