So, the Montreal bound , UFC 186 has undergone a massive shake-up, as the promotion has announced that Rory MacDonald will no longer fight Hector Lombard at the April 25th event.

The reason for the fight’s cancellation was not provided in the official announcement, however, it did note “updates” regarding the welterweight’s would be provided when available. Now that’s how you leave fans hanging…

While the card has lost it’s original co-main event, a flyweight fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi has been inserted into that slot.

Johnson (21-2-1) will be looking to extend his undefeated streak to nine, and the explosive fighter is coming off a submission win over Chris Cariaso in September.

Horiguchi (15-1) has certainly impressed since he joined the UFC in 2013, as the rising fighter has gone 4-0. In his last outing, which took place at UFC 182 in January, the agile striker outscored Louis Gaudinot for the UD victory.

So, that should be an interesting fight to catch, considering the mobility and range of both men, but chances are more fans were excited to see MacDonald battle Lombard.

Horiguchi is widely regarded to be one of the more promising 125’ers, but he isn’t a household, MMA name yet in North America (unlike MacDonald and Lombard).

UFC 186 will be hosted by Montreal’s Bell Centre, and it will also see bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw rematch Renan Barao. The two fought last May, and Dillashaw ended the reign of Barao with a fifth round, stoppage win.
