In the most impressive performance of Tony Ferguson’s career, “El Cucuy” extended his four-fight winning streak up to five by tapping Gleison Tibau.

The tap came in the first round after Ferguson rocked Gleison with a right hand behind the ear. Tibau was put on wobbling legs and forced to shoot on the lanky Southern California native. Ferguson threatened with a guillotine, but eventually chose to take the back and finish the dazed Brazilian with the rear-naked choke.

Ferguson looked to take command early on as he downed Gleison early, but let him back up to the feet. Tibau and Ferguson then traded big shots in the pocket which resulted in Gleison getting tagged and forced to retreat. From there, Ferguson never let his opponent get comfortable as he continued with ground-and-pound, and ultimately – the submission.

This was easily Ferguson’s biggest test as Gleison is one of the most experienced 155’ers out there, and was on a good run of his own heading into this fight. Ferguson showed that he can hang with the best of them – look for “El Cucuy” to really get a big step up in competition due to this spectacular win.

Ferguson’s rear-naked choke submission of Gleison Tibau was the first PPV contest on UFC 184: Rousey vs. Zingano which took place in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center.
