In a catchweight bout between John Makdessi and late replacement UFC newcomer Shane Campbell, “The Bull” picked up a thrilling TKO at 4:53 of round one.

The tall and lanky newcomer landed several powerful low kicks to the lead leg of Makdessi and looked to utilizing his reach extremely well in the early going. Makdessi tried to get the fight to the ground early, but Campbell looked to have the edge on the feet and kept the fight there.

Despite having a badly bruised up lead leg and being kept on the outside, Makdessi finally found the entrance he was needing with a big overhand right. Campbell’s legs gave out, but managed to hang on and survive only to get dropped again and subsequently finished.

In the finishing series, John Makdessi was able to close down the long reach of Campbell by stepping to the outside. In doing so it opened up the right hand for Makdessi which led to the stoppage. Very exciting win for “The Bull”.
