Dan Henderson is set to compete in his 44th pro bout Saturday night, and while Daniel Cormier believes he can win, the new champ isn’t anticipating an easy night either.

As you know, the 44 year-old legend will face Tim Boetsch at UFC Fight Night 68 this weekend, and will be looking to end a two fight losing streak. Henderson has demonstrated numerous times that he can end a fighter’s night with one shot, and Cormier believes the “H-Bomb” could play a key role in the head liner.

On the latest edition of “UFC Tonight“, Cormier was asked for his thoughts on the match-up, and here is what “DC” had to say (quote via FOX Sports press release):

“It’s going to be tough. This is not an easy fight for Henderson, but I believe he can get the job done. He might be able to get the right hand off on him and Henderson can match Tim in the wrestling. Dan’s keys are to throw the right hand, he needs to use his boxing and he needs to use his wrestling and secure some takedowns. That will set up the big punches later.”

Of course, Boetsch isn’t exactly short of punching power either, and as Cormier noted, “The Barbarian” also has a developed wrestling pedigree. Cormier’s co-host, Kenny Florian also weighed in on the fight, and had this to say about Boetsch.

“For Boetsch, has to move the head a lot and use kicks to keep Henderson on the outside. He has knockout power in both hands. He’s an excellent athlete and doesn’t get enough credit for it. He needs to have forward pressure, use the jab, and to throw leg kicks to slow down Henderson and keep him on the outside.”

It’s a compelling fight. No question. If Henderson wins, then you know he’s going to be calling for another big name fight, and things could get really interesting. If he loses, it will be the storied fighter’s sixth in seven fights.

Boetsch is also in need of a win, as the powerful fighter has gone 2-3 in his last 5 contests.

UFC FN 68 will go down at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
