For some time now it’s been known that the UFC has tapped Luke Rockhold to face middleweight champ Chris Weidman next, and now Dana White has confirmed more details regarding the match-up.

Earlier in the year, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was the front runner, in terms of the #1 contender spot, but after his bout with Yoel Romero fell through, Rockhold jumped ahead of him by taking out Lyoto Machida. Following Weidman’s stopped win over Vitor Belfort, his next title defense hasn’t been booked, but recently White tweeted out the following:

Originally, the word was that the UFC hoped to have Weidman-Rockhold go down in New York, but pro MMA has yet to be sanctioned in the state so it will have to take place elsewhere.
