If you recall, this past summer when McGregor and Aldo were scheduled to fight at UFC 189, an interesting series of events went down regarding the latter’s drug test. According to reports, a rep from the Nevada Commission arrived in Brazil to submit a random drug test on Aldo. The featherweight star submitted to the test, but then it was discovered the official didn’t have a visa to be in Brazil, and the test was scrapped.
Although Aldo took a follow up test and tested negative for PEDs, McGregor apparently believes something was up. While speaking to Combate recently, here is some of what McGregor had to say about Aldo and the drug testing he’s undergoing (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I got tested. I get tested constantly, it’s his shady ass that doesn’t get tested over there in Brazil,” McGregor said. “All this corruption is still over there. Some police officer from the gym arrested the guy who was taking the test. That is the shadiest sh-t I’ve ever heard in my life. So, I take the test, he doesn’t. Test his ass!”
“He should’ve been tested right now, today or this whole period,” McGregor relayed. “If he wasn’t, that’s disgraceful. We’ll see. I’ll ask if he was or was not tested.”
There you have it, and if you’ve followed McGregor, you won’t be surprised by the comments.
The rivals will meet at UFC 194 on December 12th. The highly anticipated bout will go down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
In the co-main event, middleweight champ Chris Weidman will take on Luke Rockhold.
