Daniel Cormier was decisioned by Jon Jones in January, in what was his only defeat to date, but the champ says Alexander Gustafsson handed him his biggest beating to date.

Cormier survived a booming knee from Gustafsson at UFC 192, and a variety of other attacks, and out gunned “The Mauler” to earn a split decision win. Gustafsson was badly bruised and bloodied after the memorable war, but Cormier was also pretty battered as well.

At the post-fight, press conference, the light-heavyweight champ had this to say about the instant classic, as well as Mr. Gustafsson (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).

“I feel pretty beat up,” Cormier said. “This is the worst that I’ve ever been beat. Gustafsson is a stud, man. He’s a good fighter.”

“These are the ones you dream about when you start doing this,” Cormier added. “You don’t dream about them as you want to be involved. You want to be involved and you want to win them.”

It was certainly a bout no one will soon forget, and it marks the second time Gustafsson’s been involved in a thrilling and ridiculously competitive title fight. As you certainly know, Gustafsson faced Jones in 2013, and pushed the now former champ to his limits. “Bones” won that fight by UD.

Will Cormier-Jones II get booked for early 2016? Hopefully we find out soon. Recently it was announced that Jones will not do any time jail time, following his arrest earlier this.

UFC 192 went down in Houston, Texas.
