Since Rousey was knocked out cold on Saturday night, by a headkick and punches, the star was sent to hospital for precautionary reasons. “Rowdy” didn’t do a post-fight interview, and obviously, wasn’t on hand for the press conference afterwards.
Well, late on Sunday, the bantamweight posted the following message on Instagram:
It’s good to hear she’s doing well, and really, what she relayed about taking a break shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Leading up to UFC 193, Rousey said after this bout she didn’t want to fight again until UFC 200 at the earliest. That event is expected to go down in July.
Now it will be interesting to see what the UFC elects to do. Obviously Holm-Rousey II at UFC 200 would be massive, but will the UFC want the new champ on the shelf that long? Will they in fact move ahead with an immediate rematch?
Prior to facing Holm, Rousey needed less than three minutes total to defeat her last four opponents.
