After all the talk and promoting recently, it looks like CM Punk’s UFC debut and scrap with Mickey Gall has been punted until later this year.

If you’re a big Punk or UFC fan, then you know that Gall took out Mike Jackson at UFC Fight Night 82 last weekend, and in doing so, secured a fight with the pro-wrestling star. Gall called out Punk during a taping of Dana White’s “Lookin’ For a Fight”, and was promised the fight if he defeated Jackson. Punk even walked into the Octagon on Saturday to face-off with Gall after his victory.

Well, now Punk has informed MMA that he’s undergoing surgery this Wednesday, to repair a herniated disc in his back. The Roufusport fighter apparently knew about the injury prior to this weekend, but didn’t want to derail the pre-fight hype tied to Gall.

The recovery time for Punk is expected to be 4-6 weeks. The UFC was initially hoping to book Punk – Gall for UFC 199 in June.
