Now that Miesha Tate is the UFC’s bantamweight champ, it looks like a third fight with Ronda Rousey is going to materialize before the year is out.

Tate choked out Holly Holm at UFC 196 to secure the belt, in a fight that a few months back, wasn’t on the UFC’s agenda. After Holm KO’d Rousey in November, the promotion wanted to book an immediate rematch. But, when Rousey asked for more time off, Tate got her chance.

Following Saturday’s card, White was asked about Tate’s future while appearing on SportsCenter, and he said this (quote via MMA

“I think that Ronda now will fight Miesha Tate for the title,” White said. “That’s what’s going to happen. That’s what I said before this fight even happened.”

Rousey isn’t expected to return until October or November, so it looks like Tate will be on the sidelines for a little while.
