Every interview Georges St-Pierre Georges St-Pierr gives, it’s becoming more and more clear that he’s extremely serious about fighting again, but does that mean it will happen? Not necessarily.

In recent weeks, the former welterweight champ has admitted he has the desire to fight, and he’s also reported he plans to do a simulation training camp to see how his body holds up (St-Pierre has had two knee surgeries in recent years). Then, while attending a Toronto Raptors’ game recently, GSP relayed that his team is in talks with the UFC.

Well, on Monday, the Canadian star appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and GSP confirmed that his reps are still talking with the UFC. St-Pierre also revealed, however, that the promotion’s uniform deal with Reebok is impacting the negotiations (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“It changed a lot of things in my contract,” GSP said, while discussing the Reebok deal. “We need to renegotiate maybe a new contract. I’m not allowed to wear my sponsors anymore, and I lose money. It depends how it’s gonna go down with the UFC. We’ll see what’s gonna happen.”

It will be interesting to see what comes out of this, if indeed GSP decides he wants to fight again, and they need a new contract in place. Although St-Pierre hasn’t fought since 2013, he’s still a huge name, and the UFC will likely need to pay up and compensate him for lost revenue. When you’re one of the greatest fighters that ever lived, you have the ability to make those kind of demands…
