If you were hoping to see Michael Bisping defend the middleweight title sooner than later, well, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Bisping jolted the MMA world big time last weekend, by taking out Luke Rockhold in the opening round at UFC 199. Rockhold was a huge favorite leading up to the bout, not only because he submitted Bisping in 2014, but because the latter took this bout on two weeks notice. Since then, both Rockhold and Chris Weidman have called for scraps with Bisping, but it remains to be seen what will happen.

Recently Bisping spoke to the BBC (which shows you huge of a win this was for the United Kingdom), and the British star had this to say about his short term future:

“But I deserve a holiday. So me, my wife and children, we’re going to take a well deserved break, get some sunshine and then we’ll start thinking about what the next fight will be.”

Even if you’re not a fan of “The Count”, it’s hard to argue with this. Bisping grinded his way to a bloody, UD win over Anderson Silva in February, and then agreed to face Rockhold on short notice. So, it’s understandable if he doesn’t want to fight again until the end of say 2016.

When he does fight, however, Bisping is hoping to do so in the U.K. The vet relayed in the aforementioned interview that he’s informed Dana White of his wish, but acknowledged it’s up to the UFC. Bisping – Rockhold III in Manchester or London would move a lot of tickets no?
