Tony Ferguson has every reason to be extremely confident as he gets set to face Rafael dos Anjos today at UFC Fight Night 98, but the latter believes that confidence will cost him.

Heading into tonight’s main event, Ferguson has won eight straight fights. Not only that, but in seven of those bouts, “El Cucuy” has finished his opponent.

Well, during a recent “UFC Tonight“, RDA had this to say about Ferguson and their bout (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“Tony has a funky style, but like I said, I’ve got to be me, be aggressive and be first. I’ve fought better guys than him. I’ve been in three title fights and this is my fifth main event. His confidence is going to go against him.”

“He’s too overconfident. You can see the way he talks. He’s got eight wins straight, but he’s never faced anyone like me. I’m in the best shape of my life. It’s been a tough year for me, but I’m going to end this year with a victory.”

It’s a fascinating bout on several levels. Ferguson is an extremely dangerous fighter and can finish an opponent anywhere. But, he’s also taken some big shots in some of his most recent wins. If RDA tags him, will Ferguson be able to recover? Can Ferguson submit the fifth degree, BJJ black belt?

Has dos Anjos fully recovered, mentally and physically, from his stoppage loss to Eddie Alvarez in July?

UFC FN 98 will take place in Mexico City, Mexico.
