Kelvin Gastelum could very well be back in the dog house of the UFC, following the news he can’t make weight for his bout with Donald Cerrone.

Yes, the promotion has announced that UFC 205 will no longer feature Cerrone vs. Gastelum, since the latter can’t make the 171 pound limit for the fight. It hasn’t been disclosed yet, however, how far off Gastelum was from that mark.

If you follow Gastelum then you know that he’s missed weight a couple of times before. After Gastelum came in at 180 pounds for a bout with Tyron Woodley, in fact, Dana White announced the TUF 17 winner would be competing at 185 moving forward. But, eventually Gastelum returned to the welterweight division.

Now, to be fair, we don’t know what led to Gastelum missing weight, but you have to wonder if he’ll be returning to the middleweight division. The 25 year-old tweeted out the following comments regarding this latest development:

It’s also been announced that former welterweight contender, Thiago Alves, came in way over for his lightweight fight with Jim Miller. Alves was 162.6 for the fight. As a result, he’s been fined 20% of his purse and he cannot be more than 173 on fight night. The ATT fighter was making his lightweight debut at UFC 205.

Saturday’s card will go down at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
