Michael Bisping has repeatedly said he’s never turned down a fight, but “Jacare” Souza’s manager believes the middleweight champ has no interest in facing the division’s top contenders.

Souza, as you likely know, was supposed to fight Luke Rockhold this weekend at UFC Fight Night 101. But, the latter had to withdraw do to injury. When that happened, Souza’s manager, Gilbert Faria, reported they were only interested in fighting for the belt next. That was before Yoel Romero took out Chris Weidman at UFC 205, however, and almost certainly locked up a title shot.

Well, recently Faria spoke with MMA Fighting.com, and while doing so, he said this about Souza’s next bout and “The Count”:

“The ideal would be a fight in late January, or February,” Faria said. “About Luke’s interview saying that he will be ready to fight in March, that’s very uncertain. The way Bisping is, he will find a way to fight Dan Henderson again, or someone from the welterweight division, or against someone retired, and continue avoiding a top contender. Don’t be surprised if ‘Jacare’ vs. Romero 2 happens first.”

Now, Bisping has already said that he’s up to fight Romero next spring, but evidently, Faria isn’t buying it. The latter also reported that Souza’s interested in facing Rockhold, Romero or obviously, Bisping next. It will be interesting to see what unfolds here. How about Souza – Mousasi?
