Following Amanda Nunes’ prediction that she’ll take out Ronda Rousey in the first round, the former bantamweight champ has fired back at the newly crowned champ.

Nunes and Rousey are scheduled to fight in the headliner of UFC 207, which will take place on December 30th in Las Vegas. The bout will mark the first time Rousey has fought since last November, when her reign as champion came to a crashing end, via a headkick from Holly Holm.

Nunes, meanwhile, quickly put away Miesha Tate in July to become the new 135 champ, as the latter had choked Holm out this past March.

Well, Rousey appeared on the latest “Conan” Wednesday night, and the star was asked about Nunes’ prediction. “Rowdy” had this to say in return (quote via MMA

“Yeah, well she kind of has to say that, because everyone knows she gasses out in the second,” Rousey said. “So she has to tell herself that, ‘It’s gonna happen first round.’ What else is she gonna tell herself?”

How about that? Now it should be noted that prior to her victory over Tate, Nunes did go three rounds with Valentina Shevchenko and won via unanimous decision. But, in her only other UFC appearance which has gone outside the opening round, Nunes was stopped by Cat Zingano in round three.

Rousey was also asked about her recent revelation that she doesn’t plan to fight much longer. The fighter / actress told Conan O’Brien that while she doesn’t see herself retiring after “this fight”, Rousey plans to retire “soon”.
