Michelle Waterson made the most of her first UFC main event, as the strawweight took out fellow contender Paige VanZant in round one.

Waterson took VanZant to the ground with a highlight reel, head-and-arm toss, and then moved to the back of “12 Gauge”. From there, Waterson started hunting for the rear-naked-choke. While VanZant defended the choke for several moments, she eventually appeared to go out, and the fight was stopped.

In the co-main event, Mickey Gall also used a rear-naked-choke to score a win. Both welterweights landed some hard punches during the bout, but in the end, the grappling of Gall ruled the day. The latter floored Northcutt with a big shot in round two, and then proceeded to finish the fight with a RNC.

UFC on FOX 22 also featured the final fight of Urijah Faber. “The California Kid” took on fellow bantamweight vet Brad Pickett, and Faber bested the rugged fighter with his strikes and wrestling. After the entertaining bout, Faber was awarded the unanimous decision win, before thanking fans and the UFC for their support.
