Recently Tony Ferguson tweeted out that he’ll “see” Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 209, and now the promotion has confirmed that the lightweights will battle for an interim 155 title at the upcoming card.

UFC 209 will take place on March 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Ever since it was revealed that lightweight champion Conor McGregor was planning to take a break, as he’s expecting his first child, there’s been talk about a Ferguson – Nurmagomedov fight. But, Ferguson reportedly held out for more money, although there’s no word as to whether he actually got some yet.

“El Cucuy” outscored Rafael dos Anjos in his last bout for the decision win, and in doing so, Ferguson (22-3) moved his winning streak to nine.

Nurmagomedov (24-0), on the other hand, tapped out Michael Johnson in his last bout, who is the last man to defeat Ferguson.
