Nate MarquardtAfter being left without an opponent when Alessio Sakara recently withdrew from a scheduled July meeting, middleweight contender Nate Marquardt will look to get back into title contention when he likely faces Rousimar Palhares at UFC 118 on August 28 in Boston, Massachusetts, according to Sportsnet’s Joe Ferraro.

After suffering a controversial split decision loss to Thales Leites in mid-2008, Marquardt (29-9-2) got back into the title hunt with three-straight wins, including a 21-second knockout of Demian Maia in August, but dropped a unanimous decision to upcoming title challenger Chael Sonnen in February.

Palhares (11-2) has won three-straight since dropping a unanimous decision to Dan Henderson in 2008, most-recently submitting Tomasz Drawl in just 45-seconds in March, though “Toquinho” was issued a 90 day suspension for failing to immediately release the heel hook.

UFC 118 is headlined by lightweight champ Frankie Edgar’s first title defense vs. former title-holder BJ Penn, while the card also features a matchup between lightweight contenders Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard as well as Randy Couture vs. James Toney.
