Matt Hughes is awake and responsive, after being seriously injured on Friday when the truck he was driving was hit a by train.
The UFC Hall of Famer’s longtime manager, Monte Cox, reported the news to MMA Fighting. According to Cox, Hughes’ eyes are closed, but he is responsive and is squeezing people’s hands.
The accident took place following recent comments from the UFC’s former welterweight champ, where Hughes has expressed an interest in fighting again. The powerful wrestler retired from pro-fighting in 2011, after being stopped by Josh Koscheck.
Hughes hung up the gloves armed with a record of 45-9.
