Jose Aldo has said he wants to fight at UFC 217 in November, but according to a new report, the promotion’s working on having him fight Ricardo Lamas in December.
Since Aldo was stopped by Max Holloway in June, the former featherweight champ has said he wants to fight before the year is up. According to a report from the Brazilian outlet, Combate, the UFC’s approached Aldo and Lamas about fighting on either December 2nd (UFC 218), or December 30th (UFC 219). The report says that both men have agreed to fight.
Lamas faced Aldo during his first, storied reign as the 145 champ, in February, 2014, and lost via decision. Most recently, Lamas put away Jason Knight in the opening round.
This news comes not long after Aldo’s coach, Andre Pederneiras, reported that the fighter wants to fight out his UFC deal and move into pro-boxing.
