Ronda Rousey’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, wants to see the superstar return to the cage and battle Cris “Cyborg” Justino, but the latter’s made it clear she’s not interested in the match-up…at least, under MMA rules.

Tarverdyan appeared on “The MMA Hour” on Monday, and raised eyebrows throughout combat sports, by relaying he wants to see Rousey fight the UFC featherweight champ. The striking coach believes “Cyborg” is “too slow” for Rousey, and that it’s a good fight for “Rowdy”, since she and Justino have traded verbal shots over the years. According to Tarverdyan, there’s a “50-50” chance that we’ll see Rousey return to the Octagon.

Well, naturally, it didn’t take long for someone to reach out to “Cyborg” to get her take on Tarverdyan’s comments. While speaking to MMA Fighting, here’s what Justino had to say in response:

“If Ronda wants to come back for a fight,” Cyborg said, “I believe it’s better for her to fight Miesha Tate. I’m in another stage of my career. I wanted to fight Ronda when she was psychologically well and confident.”

It’s kind of interesting to hear Justino say this. While, sure, Rousey would be a huge underdog if the match-up was signed, considering she’s not a 145’er and has been taken out in her last two fights, chances are it would still be a huge bout.

“Cyborg” went on to add, however, that she’d be interested in tangling with Rousey in the ring, the professional wrestling ring that is. After noting that, the Brazilian star added:

“And something brilliant, her coach would fit perfectly in her corner in WWE, he’s nothing but a joke.”

Rousey, Tarverdyan and the WWE aside, it will be interesting to see what comes next for “Cyborg”. There’s been a lot of talk about her facing Holly Holm before the year is out, but nothing has been announced just yet.

Justino secured the featherweight belt in July, by stopping Tonya Evinger in the third round.
