Recently Ronda Rousey’s striking coach relayed he thinks the star should return to the cage to fight Cris “Cyborg”, and Miesha Tate clearly isn’t in agreement.

Rousey’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, recently was a guest on “The MMA Hour”. During the segment, the Glendale Fighting Club trainer revealed he wants to see Rousey come back to battle “Cyborg”, since according to Tarverdyan, she’s too fast for the UFC’s featherweight champ. Tarverdyan also noted that Rousey would be motivated for the bout, on account of her back-and-forth with “Cyborg” over the years.

Well, since then, Tate was a guest on MMA Tonight, and the former bantamweight champ had this to say about Tarverdyan’s proposal (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“I’m gonna give Cyborg a round of applause, because she wouldn’t look more like a bully than if she took that fight with Ronda,” Tate said. “That would be ridiculous. It’s just nonsense to even think about that. I cannot believe that Edmond would suggest something so asinine.

“It’s just kind of silly,” Tate added. “I think Edmond just wants another payday so he can try to pay off his bankruptcy issues, because Jiminy Christmas. Poor Ronda. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t even want to see that fight. I’m not her biggest fan, but I wouldn’t want to see her get slaughtered by Cyborg at this point in her career, either. It’s not appealing. That’s not what this sport is about. It’s about great competitive matchups and I just don’t feel like it’s even fair to ask for something like that. If you were looking out for your athlete, why would you do that?”

Chances are more than a few folks had a similar reaction to Tarverdyan, since Rousey is coming off consecutive, one sided stoppage losses to noted strikers in Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. Even if you’re in agreement with Tarverdyan here, as it stands right now, the chances of “Cyborg” – Rousey happening seem slim to none. “Cyborg” has already said she’s not interested in fighting Rousey, even if she were to come back, and that seems like a big if.
