There’s been a lot of talk lately about who Francis Ngannou will fight next, and today the UFC’s announced it will be Alistair Overeem.
Late on Wednesday, the promotion announced that the heavyweight contenders will throw hands at UFC 218, which will go down on December 2nd in Detroit, Michigan.
Ngannou was scheduled to fight Junior dos Santos earlier this month, but a USADA flag pulled the former champ out of the fight. “The Predator” is coming off a quick stoppage win over Andrei Arlovski, which moved Ngannou’s UFC record to 5-0 and his overall record to 10-1.
Overeem (43-15) last competed in July, and earned a decision win over Fabricio Werdum. The only man to defeat the decorated fighter in his last five scraps is current champ, Stipe Miocic.
So, this news shouldn’t come as to big of a surprise, as Ngannou has been campaigning for bouts with either Overeem or Miocic.
