Ray Borg is a huge underdog heading into his bout with Demetrious Johnson, but the rising flyweight recently offered a very specific prediction, on how he’ll defeat the storied fighter.

Borg has been booked to fight the champion at UFC 216 on Saturday, after winning back-to-back bouts against Jussier “Formiga” and Louis Smolka, which left his UFC record at 5-2. Since Borg is taking on one of the greatest fighters on the planet, and a man who has defended the flyweight title 10 times, not a lot of folks are predicting the New Mexico fighter will win.

But, not surprisingly, Borg is feeling pretty confident that he’s going to prevent Johnson from setting a new record for title defenses. Recently Borg made this prediction for the bout (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I see myself winning third round, rear-naked choke,” Borg said the open workouts for UFC 216. “When you’ve got a feeling, you’ve got a feeling. I’ve got anywhere from two-and-a-half (minutes) above.

“Who knows, maybe I’ll be punching his face in when it happens.”

Some would say that’s a pretty bold prediction, but, if you’ve watched Borg’s rise up the ranks, you know he’s an excellent grappler. Good enough to take Johnson down and or submit him? That remains to be seen.

Borg also had this to say about Johnson, and what he’ll do if he scores an upset on Saturday:

“It’s one thing to beat Demetrious; it’s something else to beat him twice,” Borg said. “I’ve said that for a long time, and when I win Saturday night, I want to fight him one more time immediately. I want to beat him twice. I want to cement my legacy as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.”

Yup, if Borg were to beat Johnson not once, but twice, that would immediately propel the 24 year-old into a new stratosphere of fame and respect. Further, if anyone out there right now deserves an immediate rematch for the belt, it’s Johnson.

UFC 216 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
