Although all the talk these days about Fabricio Werdum involves Colby Covington, the former heavyweight champ’s focusing his attention on his scrap, tomorrow night.
Unless you’ve been living off the grid, and without a cellular signal, you know that Werdum was involved in a altercation this week with Covington, and has been charged with common assault. But, as the Brazilian star prepares to battle Marcin Tybura tomorrow at UFC Fight Night 121, Werdum shut down talk about the incident (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I just talk about my fight. My focus, I’m here for a fight,” Werdum said. “Talking about my fight is best for me.”
“I have focus for sure. This doesn’t affect nothing, my job. This is nothing for me,” Werdum added. “I’m just focusing on the fight. I have my career. I’m here to fight Marcin Tybura, and he’s a very tough guy. That’s it, man. Sunday, I want to put on a big show for the fans. That’s my big thing here.”
Yup. It would be wise for Werdum to focus on Tybura. No question. Although Werdum is a sizeable favorite to win Saturday’s headliner, Tybura has won three straight, two of which were by stoppage.
UFC FN 121 will take place in Sydney, Australia.
