The expectation has been that Volkan Oezdemir will be the next man to challenge for the UFC’s light-heavyweight crown, but recent news might change that.

Recently authorities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida posted that Oezdemir has been arrested for “Aggravated Battery – Cause Bodily Harm Or Disability”. No details regarding the alleged incident were included in the report.

The 28 year-old, Swiss fighter has rocketed into title contention, after taking out Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa in less than two minutes, combined. Currently Oezdemir is ranked #2 at 205, and recently champion Daniel Cormier relayed that he believes the rising fighter should get a title shot.
