Recently John Lineker relayed he’s interested in fighting Jimmie Rivera at UFC 219, and the promotion has granted his wish.

Lineker raised his hand for the opportunity, after Rivera’s original opponent for December 30th, Dominick Cruz, withdrew due to a broken arm. On Tuesday, the UFC confirmed that Lineker will battle his fellow bantamweight contender at the event.

The heavy handed Lineker is coming off a decision win over Marlon Vera in October, which marked the first time he had competed in 2016. Last December, Lineker lost via decision to T.J. Dillashaw, and he also broke his jaw during the bout.

Rivera earned a decision win over Thomas Almeida in his last bout, which took place in July. The victory was Rivera’s fifth straight since he joined the UFC in 2015.

So, this is a nice addition to UFC 219, which will go down in Las Vegas, Nevada.
