It’s been over five years since Derek Brunson was knocked out by “Jacare” Souza, and it looks like the middleweight will get a chance to avenge that loss.
The two battled back in August, 2012, when both men were fighting under the Strikeforce banner. Souza went on to finish the fight, however, in just 41 seconds.
Souza will be fighting for the first time since April, when he was TKO’d by Robert Whittaker.
Brunson, meanwhile, knocked out Lyoto Machida in last bout, which took place in October.
So, this is a nice addition to the January 27th card, which will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s definitely a pivotal fight, in terms of the middleweight division title shot picture.
