The MMA world is still buzzing about the news that Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier are going to throw hands on July 7th, and plenty of eyebrows are likely being raised as well, on account of Cain Velasquez’s response.
On Friday, the UFC announced the all-star bout, and it probably took many by surprise, as Cormier recently said he wasn’t interested in moving up to challenge the heavyweight champ. The reason “DC” said that, is because his friend, teammate, and former heavyweight champ, Velasquez, is planning to return to the Octagon in the coming months.
Well, after the fight was announced, Velasquez tweeted out this:
Like always, I'm gonna be in the gym everyday to help my brother @dc_mma become the next heavyweight champ at #UFC226. Once he wins, things could get interesting. #AndNew #WeAreAKA #GonnaGetMyBeltBack
— Cain Velasquez (@cainmma) January 27, 2018
So, this is interesting to see. Might Velasquez and Cormier actually fight if the latter takes the belt?
Miocic – Cormier will headline UFC 226, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
